Screenplay: Lin Anderson

Esther ... Kananu Kirimi
Spike ... Jamie Dodds

Spike, a 15-year old runaway, is given a home by Esther, a young woman with mental health problems. With Spike's support, Esther gains confidence to sing in a Jazz club, but the voices that haunt her threaten their fragile existence.
Spike appears to be the stronger of the pair, but mistreatment of the neighbours' baby reminds him of his own past and the secrets that make him just as vulnerable. This is a story of the healing power of unconditional love.

SMALL LOVE was given a cinema premiere on 16th August 2001 at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

SMALL LOVE had its UK TV broadcast premiere on Scottish & Grampian Television on the evening of Wednesday 24th October, 2001.
The ratings for this broadcast were the highest for STV/Grampian's autumn 'Newfoundland' series of drama productions.

SMALL LOVE showed at the London Film Festival on Wednesday 14th November 2001, and got it's first USA showings the same week at the Shorts International Film Festival in New York on 12th and 13th November.

Small Love gained Lin Anderson a nomination for a TAPS Writer of the Year Award 2001,  with a TAPS showcase showing of her film on Tuesday 13th November 2001 at BAFTA in London.

Small Love was selected to represent Scotland at the 2002 Atlantic Film Festival at Halifax, Nova Scotia. Lin Anderson had the pleasure of attending, introducing her film, and being part of what was a friendly well-run film festival.
