Aug 2003: The final Scottish event of the Ottakar's
DRIFTNET launch
'tour' was at their George Street branch in Edinburgh.
Kenny, the Events Manager, confirmed that
DRIFTNET had been selling in the
George Street branch of at a rate comparable with what would be expected
from a new book by a crime author such as Ian Rankin, and
that DRIFTNET was Ottakar's 2nd fastest selling Scottish Book of the Month ever.
With people in attendance who had read
DRIFTNET, and some who hadn't,
Lin Anderson read some passages, introducing her character Rhona MacLeod,
then took questions..
Comment was made on the 'lean' fast-moving writing style in
DRIFTNET, and
how the book, with a range of different characters, seemed to have a wide appeal,
helping to explain it's success.
