Following on from the success of the first IF Intercultural Film Showcase in October, The Lemon Tree are proud to present IF2 a unique screening programme showcasing a selection of the finest short fiction and documentary film emerging from across the UK. Films featuring in the IF2 programme - the award-winning documentary by Sana Bilgrami Under My Skin explores the lives of two immigrants, a dancer and a poet. Rank, David Yates's terrific short fiction set in Glasgow, looks at integration of asylum seekers into deprived areas of a city without moralistic pontificating or sentimentality. Leila, a short fiction based on the writers own experiences focuses on a young Iranian asylum seeker who comes to live on a Scottish housing estate. Small Love, made by Aberdeen production company Tern, tells the story of Esther, a singer who suffers from mental health problems and Spike, a boy on the run from an abusive home who ultimately find happiness and security in each other. The award winning Curry and Irn Bru is a powerful expression of young people's experiences of multicultural Glasgow. The accent may be Glaswegian but the message is universal.
